Abstract
Due to different linguistic system, the uses of address terms in Chinese and English vary from each other; in addition, behind the different uses are deep cultural difference. Therefore, to make a comparison between Chinese and English address terms and explore the cultural factors behind, possesses practical significance.
This thesis takes the cultural difference in English and Chinese terms as research topic and consists of four parts. The first part is introduction and the second part is comparison of Chinese and English terms. The third part is analysis of the cultural differences between the different uses of address terms. The fourth part is conclusion. The author hopes this thesis will bring certain help to reader’s cross-cultural communication.
