Abstract
Greetings as language behavior of the essential interpersonal and social life, is not only the way people greet each other to express feelings of symbols, but also social and historical culture accumulation. Chinese and English East and West as two different languages, similarities and differences exist in the content, appellation, emotional color and other aspects. The greeting is also directly reflected the differences between the two languages of the historical and cultural customs. Today in the increasingly prominent globalization, the international exchange and cooperation more closely, especially the need to recognize the formation of their different cultural backgrounds and traditions of different languages and cultures, thus more accurate understanding of the use of English greeting idioms, leads to successful implementation of the aim of cross-cultural communication.
