Abstract
The Thorn Birds is the representative work of the famous Australian female writer Colleen McCullough. It has been widely acclaimed as "Gone with the wind" in Australia. This novel with the background of Drogheda ranch, take the love deviation of master and mistress as the main line, tells the people about the family history of three generations of Cleary family. This paper analyzes the life of three generations of women: Fiona, Meggie and Justine, showing the period from the end of the nineteenth century to the middle of the twentieth century,the difficult awakening process of female self-consciousness in different stages of development with the development of women's rights movement. Deeply expounds the female under the patriarchal oppression, from the spontaneous resistance to the self-conscious resistance to struggle and thus changed the fate of women's rights advocate thinking.
