Abstract
Life-oriented teaching has become an important concept of basic education curriculum. The application of life-oriented teaching to primary school English education changed the phenomenon of the English education being away from life. With this teaching concept, you can pay more attention to students, their life experiences and emotions. Although most of the teachers and students have recognized and received this, some of them have practiced it at school, there are some teachers still have a one-side understanding about life-oriented teaching in primary school English teaching. It happened that the students cannot use English flexibly due to the teachers’ less attention to students real life in life-oriented teaching.
This paper attempts to study the application of life-oriented teaching in primary English teaching from two perspectives: how to apply life-oriented teaching to English classes and how to melt English teaching into life. On one hand, life teaching can be achieved by relating teaching materials, teaching methods, and class atmosphere with daily life; on the other hand, English teaching cannot be conducted in class alone, so life teaching can also be achieved by designing extra-curriculum activities in which English is spoken. Only by these ways, can students understand the joy of English learning and enjoy it. As a result, English teaching efficiency and students’ English proficiency can be improved.
