Abstract
Along with the social development, the distance of the heart between Chinese and English people are much closer than it has ever been, one word that can evocatively indicate such a phenomenon is “the Global village”. In other word, intercultural communication goes forward with an irresistible force. Therefore appropriate address behavior is crucial for effective communication and successful maintenance of interpersonal relationships. As we know, people of different Nations differ in culture, history, customs and convention, and of course these differences can be shown in their address forms. Therefore, a comparative analysis will be conducted by the two categories of address forms between Chinese and English described in the Introduction part of this thesis, attempts to reveal their hidden cultural connotation to enhance in the intercultural communication. For under the cultural immerse of Confucius thoughts in China, which is much different to the Western Countries where are influenced by religion as well as western philosopher etc. Address forms between Chinese and English are vastly different.
